Hollis Bunker Healy brings her Art of Motherhood Exhibit to the Avenue Art Gallery, 114 Washington
Avenue, Endicott, NY premiering August 5, 2006 and running through August 31st. The exhibit is a collection of
black and white photographs shot in natural light and depicting the beauty of pregnancy and motherhood. The artist
shares an intimate portrait of the woman's form in a thought provoking challenge to societal convention.
Through her work as a doula and birth advocate, Hollis has observed that women and society are critical of
the pregnant state. It is her purpose to capture its beauty for expecting mothers.
Observes Hollis, "The Art of Motherhood Exhibit combines my passion for motherhood and photography.
Too often pregnant women lament their growing size. It is so rewarding to show a woman her photos and to hear
her say...'I didn't know I looked like that. I am beautiful!'"
Hollis Bunker Healy grew up in Broome County and currently lives in Harrisburg, PA with her husband and
daughters. In addition to her photography, she serves as a doula, dance instructor, and choreographer.
